Helping Families Navigate the
Program Entry Process

We understand that seeking high-quality education services for a student with special needs can be a daunting task, with families sometimes feeling overwhelmed, confused, or frustrated when trying to find just the right placement best suited to their child.

Our staff welcomes the opportunity to walk referrals through the enrollment process, explaining the steps involved, the requirements in place, and the student protocols with honesty, clarity, and full transparency.

We’ll go over the details with prospective parents/guardians directly, but generally speaking, you should know:

  • Ideally, referrals are initiated by the student’s local educational agency (school district) for the provision or continuation of support services meeting the student’s most recent Individualized Education Program (IEP) out-of-district.
  • Referrals from parents and physicians can also be accepted with the involvement of the student’s educational agency.
  • Students are referred on the basis of their primary diagnosis (with or without concomitant diagnoses), be it autism spectrum disorder or another type of developmental delay.
  • Referrals must include the most up-to-date psychoeducational assessment, social history, medical history, and IEP (if one has been developed).

School districts should send referrals to: Emily Garcia, Special Education Director, at egarcia@osalc.com. And we’re always delighted to give schools, parents, and families a tour of our facility upon request. Contact us today to schedule a time to visit our location and learn more about our program.
